Daily Discovering the Blessing

We continue today to see what God says to us about His Word. Our Father is self-revealing and His instructions to us concerning the manner in which we approach, rely on, and trust in His word is life changing.  It is our daily strength and our future assurance.  (Do not let the fact that you may already know some of these Scriptures quite well diminish your wonder and awe at the truth of them!  Familiarity sometimes breeds complacency.  Always approach our Father’s Word with fresh wonder for there is always more to understand.  Allow the Holy Spirit to reveal more about what you already know today.)

God is watching, “alert and active” to see that His Word is fulfilled (Jeremiah 1:12)   He promises that His Word will not return to Him void; that it will accomplish what it was sent for and, in fact, will prosper in the thing for which He sent it (Isaiah 55:11)He also tells us in Numbers 23:19:

God is not a man that He should tell or act a lie, neither the son of man that He should feel repentance or compunction (for what He has promised.  Has He said and shall He not do it, or has He spoken and shall He not make it good?[Emphasis mine]

Once again, allow the Truth of this Scripture to inform the way you look at God’s Word.  Those who know God will prosper.  My good friend and sister-in-Christ, Lisa, leaned on the Truth of these Scriptures when her oldest son was involved in a serious automobile accident.   Faith in the enduring and eternal promises of God’s Word walked her through those moments when medical prognosis for survival was bleak.  Leaning the entire weight of her personality on the Truth – that God has promised and He will do it, He has spoken and He will make it good – carried her, joyfully, through days when fear knocked at the door. She knew the faithfulness of Him Whom she served; she understood that God’s Word would not return to Him void, but that it would prevail in her son’s life.  And, of course, it did.  He is well and strong today, testifying to the goodness of God.

How profoundly important it is to equip our spirits with God’s Word.  Lisa could stand securely in that place of absolute assurance because she had done the necessary preparatory work.  She had filled her heart and her mind with the Word of God.  She had daily become more intimately acquainted with her Heavenly Father.  She knew that He was forever faithful to His promises – and what these promises were. In the safety of today, equip yourself with the Word of God to prosper in your tomorrows.  Plant those incorruptible faith seeds.
