Daily Discovering the Blessing

Be Willing!

Be willing! There are only two ways to go through this day, this month, this year – released to the will of God, purposefully setting Him before you as your standard, and giving His Holy Spirit (His purposes, His agenda) first place – or not! It is truly as simple and as life defining as that.

Isaiah 30:15 – For thus said the Lord God the Holy One of Israel; in returning {to Me} and resting {in Me} you shall be saved; in quietness and in {trusting} confidence shall be your strength. But you would not.

[The word “saved” in the above passage is defined fully in Strong’s Concordance as the Hebrew “yasha” which means “to be open, wide, or free; to be safe, to defend, deliver, help, preserve, rescue; to get victory. This Old Testament word has an equivalent in the Greek New Testament – “sozo”, which is translated “to save, deliver, protect, heal, preserve; to be made whole”. Understanding the meaning of the text gives us a powerful and reassuring knowledge of all that Jesus accomplished on our behalf when He saved us.]

Quietness and trusting confidence“. When there seems to be an immovable mountain in your path, when decision-making choices seem unclear, when fear or confusion or dreary sameness seem poised to defeat you, there are actually only two choices: trusting God or not. Seeking His Truth, His plan, His purposes for you or striking out on your own hoping for the best.

1 Samuel 12:23 – I will instruct you in the good and right way. Only fear the Lord and serve Him faithfully with all your heart. For consider how great are the things He has done for you.

Psalm 37:34- Wait for and expect the Lord and keep and heed His way, and He will exalt you to inherit the land.

Isaiah 30:21 – And your ears will hear a word behind you saying, This is the way, walk in it, when you turn to the right hand and when you turn to the left.

So many of God’s kids- those who know that He is and have accepted Jesus as His Son, the Messiah, their Lord, still walk out daily in a half life in the Spirit. They seem to have only nodding acquaintance with the One, the only One, Who knows them intimately – better even than they know themselves.

Jeremiah 29:11, 13 – For I know the thoughts and plans I have for you says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil- to give you hope in your final outcome…Then you will seek Me, inquire for and require Me [as a vital necessity] and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart

How our Father’s heart must grieve over this. These choices His children make to go it on their own (to their detriment). When all that He has promised, His purposeful covenant relationship established for us, all that His Son agonized through to purchase on our behalf, and the “availability” of the ministry of the Holy Spirit – all of this is our inheritance. And we weaken its power and dismiss its impact by not attending fully.

Choose this day to receive and honor God’s ways of doing and being right. Indicate your trust and reliance on Him by seeking Him first in everything that pertains to your life. In quietness and in trusting confidence allow His Holy Spirit to guide, to re-inform opinion, to re-direct if necessary, and to clearly define God’s loving intent for you. Get a picture in your heart today of your Abba – the God Who is love, Who is peace, and Who is the Creator of all that we see attentively and lovingly involving Himself in your unique circumstances, working them all together for good on your behalf (Romans 8:28; 1 Peter 5:7). Be willing to allow God to manifest Himself fully in your day, your month, your year. Preach to your heart that Abba knows best!
